Mold Cavity Manufacturing

Core & Cavity

Core and cavity work together to shape a plastic product, the core forms the internal features of the plastic product, while the cavity forms the external features of the plastic product. Due to the characteristics of plastic material are easy to deform, core and cavity must be designed with high precision to ensure that the final product meets dimension and surface finish requirements.
Alternative material: require hardened steel steels, such as P20, H13 or S7, they are subjected to high pressures and temperatures during injection molding. Machining: using CNC machining, milling, EDM and other processes to ensure precision.
Heat treatment: After processing, the core and cavity are heat treated to improve their hardness and wear resistance. Depending on the material used, this often includes processes such as hardening, tempering or nitriding.
Surface Finishing: polishing, grinding, or texturing is used to achieve desired surface characteristics such as smoothness or texture replication.
Inspection: core and cavity generally belong to the injection mold components with complex structure, most of them need to be tested by CMM, they must be made sure to meet the tolerances of the drawings.

Injection Mold Precision Component

Inserts

Inserts are relatively simple spare parts in plastic molds, that supplement the core and cavity in the injection mold to form the overall character of the final plastic product.
The processing technology of inserts is not complicated and often requires the use of advanced surface treatment technologies to achieve extremely high surface finish to ensure the best fit and durability. They can be manufactured flexibly from a variety of metal or plastic materials, and often they require high precision.
Integrating inserts into the mold design allows for greater flexibility, improved functionality, and simplified post-molding assembly.

Ejector Pin

Ejector pins play a vital role in releasing molded parts from the mold, and they are usually made of hardened steel that can withstand high pressures and temperatures, such as H-13 or A-2. The processing process of ejector pins includes turning, milling, grinding and heat treatment to achieve the required hardness. Some ejector pins will be required to be coated with titanium nitride to further enhance their durability and reduce friction.

Slide & lifter

Slide and lifter are used to create features such as undercuts, threads, or side-actions in the molded part. Alternative material: P20 Steel, H-13 Steel, Stainless Steel and Aluminum etc. Machining: CNC machining, EDM, and grinding are commonly used to achieve the intricate shapes and movements required for slides and lifters. Inspection: After dimensional inspection by the QC department, it may also involve running simulations or testing molds to verify the performance of these components.

What information do you need to quote my part?

In order to provide a meaningful quote, we require the following information:

We accept CAD data in any format, 2D and 3D, including STP, IGES, X_T, DWG, PDF, STL;
The expected quantities, and raw materials required;
Any necessary secondary operations, including finishing specifications, heat treatment, anodizing or plating, etc.
Any applicable customer specifications, such as First Article Inspection and required outside process certificates;
Any other useful information, such as target pricing or required lead times.

What logistics company can I choose?

DHL, UPS, FedEx and SF.

How will my parts be packaged?

We have a professional team for packaging.

For small parts, we will use EPE pearl cotton plastic boxes for perfect protection, and use cartons to ship.

For large parts, EPE pearl cotton is used to pack completely, and wooden cases is used to ship.
